Goodbye
Prime Minister Omar Karami just did it - he resigned right in front of the Parliament after a lengthy speech introduction in which he complained of personal attacks in the local Lebanese media. Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri objected, saying that proper procedure required that Karami notify him first, but it looks like what's done is done.
The government has fallen. And now the fun begins.

"ENOUGH", indeed!
The speed of developments in Lebanon has been breathtaking!
I can barely focus on my job here. I'm tingling all over.
So what happens now? Will the be an election, or is there another alternative?
Oh, and by the way - I've had Sky News on in the background all day (it's 17:19 here) and they just announced that the government had fallen.
Blogs beat the MSM more and more often :)
Thanks!
I'm with Mohamed F. This is wonderful news.
Hopefully the Lebanese will be free again soon. Then this beautiful, diverse country can begin to rebuild.
Exciting times!
It is an honor and an inspiration, as it was with Ukraine, for this American to witness a people taking the first important steps towards liberty and control over their individual destinies.
Fight on, Lebanon and may you be part of the leading edge of a wave of freedom we all hope sweeps across the Middle East.
Beautiful!!! Oh how sweet this is to see! As someone who's been watching Lebanon from a distance for two years now, this is absolutely staggering.
What hath god wrought?
What happened in the Iron Curtain is now happening in the Middle East. Absolutely amazing.
Its nice to see Christians, Muslims and others just spreading the freedom all around.
Can you imagine if it spreads to Syria, Iran, Egypt, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia? That would be quite a kick!!
I can barely keep up with the news.
